V's Sweet Challenge: "Masculine" Theme

Good morning, crafty friends!!!

I can't seem to catch my breath as I swear I just blinked and already March is here--crazy!!  However, very exciting--Spring is just around the corner--HOORAY!!!! :D

This month's new challenge at V's Sweet Ideas is a masculine theme... (:  These are the hardest cards for me, because my cards just naturally gravitate towards the feminine side *grin*  But, the more masculine cards I create, the more comfortable I'm becoming about making them.  I think little by little, I'm learning and picking up new tips from observing, not only the work of other crafters, but my own as well.  I feel that the more simple you keep a card, the easier it is to make it look "masculine".  I've noticed as well that adding stripes also helps make masculine cards look more "masculine".  Just my thought...

Here are two views of the card I created:

I had a blast making this card, mostly because I knew I wanted to create a special birthday card for a 4-year old boy who has utterly stolen my heart--Mr. Petey Overzat!!! ♥  Since our awesome friends and sponsor this month, Bugaboo Stamps, provided each DT member with a digi, I picked out the cute image I used on today's card...  I think the little boy kind of resembles Petey a little bit, although, he might differ in opinion when he sees the card... (;  HA!

Now, the super generous, Vanessa provided the DT members with a couple of beautiful color ribbons and I chose to use the teal one for my card.  This color couldn't have been more perfect with the pattern paper and shimmery copper card-stock that I used--seriously, a match made in heaven!  I also got to use that self-adhesive button, which had been in my embellishments stash for the longest time.  I colored in the image using my Copic markers.  I added "stardust" Stickles to certain details in the party hat, glossy accents to the cherry, and "baby blue" perfect pearls for the sprinkles on the cupcake.  Can I tell you?!!  I LOVE this card!!!!  I love it SO much, I almost changed my mind about giving it away, so I made another one just like it.  Thought I'd keep that one, but then I decided it would make me even happier if I gave it away to another special little boy who has a birthday coming up at the end of this month:  Evan--Vanessa's precious son!!! Xoxoxo  It will be a nice surprise for him and I know his reaction will be priceless!! (:
