Friday Special: Guest Designer Take-over! (;

Happy Friday, lovelies!!!

I am SO happy today!!!  My good friend, Pat Castillo is taking over my blog with a super FUN technique on a card she's created for you!!!   She is amazing at making projects using distress ink techniques!!!  You'll see what I mean, soon... (;

I met Pat back in the very beginning of 2007 and we have been good friends ever since.  To be honest, in a way, she was the one who kind of introduced me to the crafting world.  I remember she was very much into scrapbooking then.  I had arranged a trip to visit her and her family out in Washington (state) the summer of 2010 and we surely made plans to scrapbook.  She introduced me to some of Jennifer McGuire's super cool video tutorials.  She also took me to JoAnn's, Michaels and the Scrapbooking Warehouse (I was mesmerized!), which is where I bought my first scrapbooking supplies.   I got to use some of her fun and cool crafting supplies as well as the new ones I had purchased... That's where I scrapbooked my first three page layouts--in her craft room! heehee! (:  I'll need to post a picture of those at some point...  I can't say that I was hooked into crafting then, because returning home I never picked it up again ): (I know, what was wrong with me?!)  It wasn't 'til the following year that I stumbled upon one of Kristina Werner's card tutorials (I believe it was "Make a card Monday") and I was hooked on card making for life! HA!  Now, even more so, Pat and I had TONS to talk about--just imagine!!! :D  Anyways, I am honored to have her guest design on my blog today, since through her I discovered this fascinating crafting passion!!!  A warm and cheerful WELCOME, Pat!!!!!!! :D  You all must stop by her blog some time to check out some of her other awesome work!!!  Hope you all enjoy what she has especially created today for you, my lovely readers!!! (:

I'm so excited to be a guest on Grisel's blog! Thanks, Grisel, for the invitation! We've been friends for many years and we've had fun chatting about different inks and techniques for a few years now!

For my card, I wanted to use a favorite sketch with a favorite technique and an odd element. I first stamped the Hero Arts Old Letter Writing stamp using broken china distress ink on white cardstock. Then, I stamped the Hero Arts Butterfly Garden over the script. I used an American Crafts Blender pen to color in the image using my distress inks. After coloring in the image, I used pattern papers from DCWV's Whimsy Matstack. I wanted the image to look a bit like we were looking out the window and seeing the grass and pretty flowers and butterflies. I notched out a half circle on both side papers. For the grass, I actually found some paint chips that were the perfect shade of green! The chip had a great texture to it because it's kind of grainy--so keep those paint chips because you may be able to use them on a project! (And they're readily accessible at any home improvement store!) I did add some glitter to the butterflies' bodies using a glitter pen and then added some pink gems to the side panels just to brighten it up a bit. The sentiment is on the inside and it simply says "Hope you have a super fun birthday"--sentiment also from Hero Arts.

Thanks, again, Gri, for letting me guest spot!
